This summer, La Fée is delighted to announce they will be releasing a newly refined La Fée Absinthe Parisienne, using 100% natural ingredients, in collaboration with Marie-Claude Delahaye, founder and curator of the French Absinthe Museum (Auvers~sur~Oise).

La Fée will be the first of the international brands to launch a classic, all-natural Verte and Blanche Absinthe Supérieure in addition to their established Extra Supérieure [XS] range. The new recipe Parisienne will be available from La Fée‘s Paris bond from 1st July 2013 and rolling out beyond Europe this year.

Marie-Claude Delahaye and George Rowley, founder of La Fée, have developed this all-natural Parisienne recipe to enhance the herbal character while refining the balance of the spirit:  The level of Grand wormwood [Artemisia Absinthium] in the distillation has been increased by 60% and the Green and Star Anise has been slightly softened. This allows the more delicate herbs to emerge, such as fennel, coriander and hyssop. The natural colour is obtained through the maceration of herbs in spirit.

To launch the all-natural absinthe, La Fée has created a unique new bottle to ensure the delicate distillate is stored in optimum conditions. The new bottle is coated with a special UV inhibitor to protect the liquid against sunlight, which can quickly damage natural green. In addition to this, La Fée has designed a higher quality, heavy weight label with hot foiling to celebrate the launch. New bottles will also have a QR code linking through to La Fée’s social media channels and website.

Each distillation is personally tested and approved by Marie-Claude Delahaye. Delahaye comments: “La Fée Absinthe Parisienne is an excellent example of an all-natural absinthe and I’m delighted that La Fée will be offering the international market the new recipe.”

George Rowley adds: “We’re thrilled to have evolved Parisienne to the next level - a standard we would like to see across the premium absinthe category - and developed a UV protective bottle to protect the fragile spirit. The Parisienne will sit alongside our Absinthe Blanche and the XS range we now offer four absinthes made with 100% natural ingredients.”

The product will be available in all UK La Fée stockists from 1st July, via Cellar Trends UK.

Nick Barker, La Fée Brand Manager at Cellar Trends UK, says: “We believe the release of La Fée’s all-natural Absinthe Parisienne will raise the bar of the premium absinthe category across the UK - and globally later this year.”

About La Fée

La Fée has a portfolio of premium quality absinthe spirits, including its most popular – Absinthe Parisienne, for which Marie-Claude Delahaye personally tests each distillation prior to bottling in Paris. The product is available across the globe, with the majority of its sales in the UK, USA and France.

Established by British entrepreneur, George Rowley in 2000, La Fée has won medals globally for its Absinthes including the: Spirits Business Absinthe Masters, San Francisco World Spirits Competition, International Wine & Spirits Competition (UK), Beverage Testing Institute (Chicago), Absinthiades (Pontarlier, France) & The Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Fair.

A brief history:

-          June 1998: Rowley sets the precedent for Absinthe in the European Union (including specific tests on thujone in Absinthe) which are followed to this day.

-          May 2000: Rowley and Delahaye, with The French Absinthe Museum, returned the distilling of traditional Absinthe to France with La Fée Absinthe Parisienne – now exported around the world.

-          March 2005: Swiss repeal their 1910 Absinthe Ban – following this Rowley takes Absinthe Ultra Premium and launches the wine based, boutique distilled La

Fée X•S Suisse (Couvet, Switzerland) and La Fée X•S Francaise (Pontarlier, France) in November 2006.

-          2006: USA adopts the same rules for thujone as the EU: allowing absinthe spirits to return to the ‘States the following year.

-          May 2011: The French Government repeal the Absinthe Ban of 1915, and in doing so removed absinthe’s last major restriction – bringing absinthe back to its spiritual homeland. La Fée played a small part, with Marie-Claude, in making this happen.

-          April 2012: La Fée represents the definitive range of Absinthe – launching La Fée Absinthe Blanche: endorsed alongside La Fée Absinthe Parisienne by The French Absinthe Museum – with each distillation tested and approved before bottling by Marie-Claude Delahaye.

-          July 2013: Releases La Fée Absinthe Parisienne made with 100% natural ingredients, in UV protective bottle to protect the delicate colour.
